- Plan, design, and furnish kitchens and bathrooms.
- Design kitchen and bathroom environments and create physical layouts that are practical, aesthetic, and conducive to the intended purposes.
- Design plans to be safe and to be compliant with local codes and the American Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Coordinate with other professionals, such as designers, developers, contractors, architects, engineers, and plumbers, to ensure job success.
- Inspect construction work on site to ensure its adherence to the design plans.
- Use AutoCAD, 3ds Max, Photoshop and other software to design interior environments and produce three dimensional models.
- Advise client on interior design factors, such as space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, and color coordination.
- Confer with client to determine factors affecting planning of kitchen and bathroom environments, such as budget, architectural preferences, purpose, and function.
- Estimate material requirements and costs, and present design to client for approval.
- Review and detail shop drawings for construction plans.
- Design spaces to be environmentally friendly, using sustainable and/or recycled materials.
- Research and explore the use of new materials, technologies, and products to incorporate into designs.
- Render design ideas in form of computer-generated drawings and models.
- Select materials, hardware and accessories.
- Subcontract fabrication, installation, and arrangement of kitchen- and bathroom-related items.
Minimum Job Requirements: Bachelors degree in Architecture, Interior Design or a related field, 12 months of experience as an Interior Designer, 1 year design experience using AutoCAD, 1 year design experience using 3ds Max software, and 1 design year experience using Photoshop software.
